Uses

For application as either a high build internal or external crack resistant plaster.

Advantages

 Internal shrinkage control mechanism.

 High build in single pass.

May be hand or machine applied.

Permits a high quality finish to be obtained.

Long life in plastic packing if stored properly.

Preparation

The substrate shall be made free of coatings, laitance, oil, grease, dust or any other deleterious substances. Sufficient clean water shall be sprayed on to the substrate to achieve a “saturated surface dry” condition (SSD) immediately prior to commencing application work. Highly absorbent surfaces (aerated blocks, calcium silicate blocks etc) shall be primed with Nitobond SBR diluted with water at a 1:1 ratio. Cast concrete surfaces shall be chipped to provide a mechanical key prior to rush coat and plaster application.

Application

The substance should be prepared in such a manner as to provide a sound mechanical key. If so required, the substrate may be primed with a rush coat made by mixing approximately 5-6 litres of water with a 20kg bag of Total Screed to produce a thin slurry. The rush coat shall be applied at a thickness of between 1 to 4mm and allowed to set for 48 hours prior to the application of the plaster. To mix the plaster, charge a mechanical mixer with 3 to 4 litres of water per 20kg bag of product and slowly add Total Screed. Mixing shall continue for a minimum period of 3 minutes or any such longer period as required. Alternatively, a plaster mixer pump with automatic water feed may be employed. When mixed, Total Screed may be applied to the substrate either by pump or trowel as appropriate. An application thickness of up to 25mm may be achieved in a single pass, if required. Higher build single pass applications may be achieved if projection spray equipment is employed.
